Bottlecap Press

2 books published by Bottlecap Press

Bottlecap Press

Someone sent me an article from "Writer Beware!" It listed the top 5 worst small publishers. Bottlecap press was number 5. They published 2 of my chapbooks, My Colorful Heart and Self-Centered.

I hadn't had any sales for a long time. The press won't sell on Amazon or anywhere else – only on their website. One of the things in the article was that Bottlecap didn't pay their writers. I don't know if I had that problem or not. The problem I'd faced was the slow-as-molasses delivery of books. I ordered copies to take to author events, but they took 2 months to get from California to Indiana. I'd complained about that often.

I sent the article to Craig, the publisher, and asked him about what the author had said. As usual, he didn't respond.

Two days ago, I received an email in the wee hours of the morning. Bottlecap Press has summarily dropped me. My books are no longer on their site. He said it was due to lack of sales, and it was for the best for both of us. Per our contract, I still own the rights to my work, but he owns his artful covers.

Those two books will soon be available on Amazon from another small publisher. I just wanted to get these words out there. If you or anyone you know is considering Bottlecap Press, I suggest finding another small publisher.
